Chapter #80 Weiss Lake Alabama
January 1st - SCRC Weiss Lake - 2nd Annual Polar Bear Run
OK... It weren't even cold, but I gotta' try and make our Northern friends feel at home! I think the "Official" count was 66 bikes that left the Biker Shack at 1:00PM the afternoon of 1/1/06 for our 2nd annual Polar Bear Run! We had folks from all over, but SCRC Sand Mountain took 1st place for having the most riders show up. (Except for our chapter of course!) But the real die hard's were the folks that rode down from Indiana to make the run with us! I think they missed qualifying for the Iron Butt Award by only about 50 miles when they arrived back home the next morning!!!
Tom did an excellent job of leading the pack through some mighty fine backroads over into Walker County Georgia where we stopped at Mountain Cove Farms for a spell...
The only mishap was a flat tire on one of my bikes. For some reason it seems that I always have 2 scoots in the Polar Bear run? Anyway it was a tubeless, so a quick pump up and it made it back home and still had a little air to spare!
A BIG THANKS to Pam at Biker Shack
411 who stayed after closing time to feed everyone hot chili and coffee after
the run, Tom for doing such a good job of leading the heard, thanks to Brenda
and Joe for all the great pictures and thanks also to
the rider who happened to have an air compressor in the saddle bag!
